Why The College Funding Coach?
When I was young, I aspired to play sports at the collegiate level. I was blessed with an opportunity to play baseball at Texas A&M University. However, my parents and I were not well-versed in the college planning arena, so I ended up missing out on potential aid and scholarships.
After graduating from college and “retiring” from professional baseball after two seasons, I entered the workforce as a teacher and coach in the public education system here in Texas.
On the coaching side, I was always heavily involved in the recruiting process with our athletes. We worked tirelessly to find a good fit for our athletes, both athletically and academically. However, we often came up against a common obstacle: how are our families going to afford to send their athlete to the school that has offered them a place to play?
Now that I have moved into financial planning, this is a question that I am able to help families answer with much more clarity. And when I heard about The College Funding Coach, it was a natural fit.
A Little More About Shane
Background:
Shane worked for 10 years as a teacher and coach in public education before entering the financial planning industry in 2022.
Community Involvement: Shane stays involved with his local church and is a proud supporter of Isaiah 117 House Brazoria County.
Personal: Shane grew up in small town Texas and still resides in a small community south of Houston. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.
